Abstract and Figure Writing Instructions
I have attached here a paper from a recent issue of Science. I have deleted the abstract from this version. (yes, you should have no trouble finding the original with the abstract). Since you should have a more solid understanding of immunology it is a good time to start understanding some of the literature. There are two assignments associated with this paper.
First, you will write a description of the results presented in Figure 2 Panels A through D. This should be fairly short, and yes you can find how these authors presented it, but this needs to be in your words. The results should state briefly what the experiment was and then describe the data in Figure 2 A-D. This assignment will be due in the Submissions folder by Monday, March 6 at midnight. Realistically this is maybe four sentences at most if you use them carefully.
The second assignment is to write the abstract for this paper. Since you have the whole document you should be able to work backwards to an abstract that includes a brief statement of the problem and hypothesis, the research that was done with a high-level summary of results and conclusions. This will be due March 6 at midnight as well.
