Design a media artwork (any type) that explicitly pays homage to the historical digital artwork you selected ( made prior to 2000) as discussed in the lectures or readings. Include your own contemporary take on the original idea in your work. If the artwork you want to respond to is not listed, ask your lecturer.
Produce 2 planning or in-process sketches/diagrams/models/screen captures, and a small sample of a final media art work/prototype, as well as a short text (200 words max.) which explains how it modernizes the original work (do not just replicate the style)). Explain why you chose it. If you use AI, you must include the name of the tool, list any specific text prompts, and write an additional 100 words about the ethics of your work in relation to the original artist, explaining why you are not just copying/stealing their work. Include the original artist’s name, artwork title, format, and date in your explanation. You will be asked to show this assignment in class and answer questions.”
