Sociology encourages you to see how individual experiences fit into the larger social context. To help you connect the class readings to experiences in your own life or other things you are learning, you will complete a reading response journal on the assigned readings. These journals encourage you to identify important and interesting passages from the assigned readings and connect them to other things from your life. You need to choose 1 complete passage (a minimum of 3 sentences from a paragraph to a full paragraph) from the assigned reading, title the journal entry with the reading, author, chapter and page number, type up the FULL EXCERPT, add a comment about what interested you in that reading passage, and then discuss SPECIFIC connections to other readings, other classes, or experiences from your own life. The journal entries should focus on your own thoughts about the readings and what you are learning along the way.
